Michael Nieminen Emmaus held a beautiful liturgical service today following LSB DS 3. The introit and gradual were led very effectively by a small choir, and sung to an BCP chant tone. Confession and Absolution followed side B. Hymns were led capably from the organ, and singing was particularly robust. The church was relatively full for this summertime service including many families with children. I visited Emmaus with my wife and children. We were blessed by a Lutheran sermon with unapologetic Law and clear Gospel, and a reverent celebration of the Sacrament that always drew attention to Christ. Interestingly the service ended with the benediction and had no recessional hymn, though we had no lack of hymns in the service (there were seven). We also appreciated the fact that there were no spoken announcements, as they were included in a handout.
